NEWEN STUDIOS RENEWS FINANCIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH ANTON

European distributor Newen Connect, a Newen Studios subsidiary, has agreed to a further three-year deal with global production and financing studio, Anton, which sees Newen Connect receiving financial investment in exchange for Anton gaining shared distribution revenues from its overall slate. The arrangement allows Newen Connect to strengthen its capacity to develop and support ambitious high end European programs for international audiences and in addition to Newen inhouse production companies, reinforce major production partnerships that can develop and deliver such titles.

The deal marks the third extension to the agreement between Newen Connect and Anton that first began in 2019 and will now focus on developing further series. Five years on from the original arrangement, Anton’s investment has allowed the company to develop series with Newen inhouse labels and high-profile strategic production partnerships with companies including UCG and Jude Law’s Riff Raff Entertainment, as well as invest in more than 70 large-scale and high-impact TV projects from across Europe. This has resulted in gripping titles such as Cat’s Eyes, which has recently launched to stellar ratings in France on TF1, as well as Swedish political thriller 8 Months and the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster We Come in Peace. The agreement has also allowed Newen Connect to invest into Englishlanguage programs such as The Teacher (UK) and Limbo (Australia).

“I’m delighted that Newen Connect and Anton will be continuing their relationship for a further three years. Newen Connect has significant plans both in the range of the projects we want to co-develop and invest in over the next years and the scale of ambition for these titles. This partnership with Anton will allow us to deliver against our strategy : extending our English speaking line up and supporting the most ambitious European production, building global IPs for international audiences.”
